Stationary compactor

A compactor that remains at the site while a detachable container is hauled away.

Self-contained compactor

A compactor and container arranged as an integrated unit, often used for wet waste.

Baler

Equipment that compresses recyclable material into a tied bale.

Receiver container

The detachable container that receives compacted material.

Pull charge

A fee for hauling or exchanging a container.

Tipping fee

A disposal or processing fee usually based on weight.

Contamination fee

A charge for unacceptable material in a recycling or waste stream.

Diversion

Directing material away from disposal through prevention, reuse, recycling or recovery.

Lockout/tagout

A hazardous-energy control procedure for servicing and maintenance.

Waste audit

A structured review of waste quantity, composition, sources and handling.
